One of my favorite procratination tools for writing is… a Map. I can spend hours coming up with maps to put my characters in physical space. And I don’t even write fantasy or science fiction. I just love a good map! I like to think of Tolkien spending hours not writing and creating those beautiful maps of Middle Earth. A good map can illuminate the hero’s journey like nothing else. While writing my WWII novel, I came across 1940’s Army maps that    were the same maps my characters were looking at.
