Here at the Story Factory, we value quantity over quality. More words, more hours, more stories. The goal is 52 stories at the end of the year. So far, we are on target. Which, I know, isn’t much to say at this point of the year, but on the other hand, this time last year, I was already behind. So, at the end of each month, we will report production and celebrate the little victories.

February Production Report:

Monthly Words: 36,125

Monthly Hours: 153

Stories – 4

Cumulative through 2/28

Words – 88,864

Hours  – 327  (should have 336 so 9 hours behind, less than two days.)

Stories – 10

That includes Morning pages each day, prewriting on either the week’s story or the novel that I am re-writing, and this blog. I only count the short story once, so there is the total for that, and I don’t count the blog on Story Sunday.

March Goals:

168 Creative Hours

90,000 words

4 short stories

1 Medium submission

The Medium submission is a new thing to the goal list. The words will count towards word count and the hours will count as well.

Analysis:

A strong month 2 for this year, making progress toward the big goals. (Also, this font seems really weird when you have two g’s together underlined. It looks like g.g.) I still need to spend more time reading short stories rather than books about productivity, but reading is reading. But since the purpose of all this is to get really good at writing short stories, reading them more often needs to happen.
