No, I obviously not an essayist. Tried that hat on and it did not fit.

Margaret Atwood says that fiction writing is problem solving, and I love problem solving. I also love James Michener’s novels, which seems to indicate that I like problems that take a while to solve. Hence, short stories and essays are not my jam, at least not at the moment.

It’s going to be November very soon, and I am jumping in to National Novel Writing Month with both feet. I have been participating off and on since 2001 and the busier my November is, the more likely I am to finish. Go figure.

If you didn’t click the link, National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a challenge of writing a 50,000 word novel in thirty days with a couple of million close friends. There are all kinds of encouragement, write-ins, writing sprints, you name it. Whatever it takes to write approximately 1667 words a day for 30 days.
