Or do they tell me I need to build better characters? Maybe that is more true. I keep looking at character building websites, and chapters out of books like this one, and try to get my characters to be more, well whatever they are supposed to be more of, and I think I finally figured it out.

My characters don’t have “main character energy.” They are perpetual wing men, looking for someone to support. I first thought of this when I was looking at articles about people who wear the same thing everyday. One was a writer and she mentioned that by dressing the same every day, she feels more like a protagonist in her own life. Main characters apparently wear the same clothing everyday, but my thought was if I looked like protagonist, people will expect me to act like a main character. I definitely do no have main character energy. But now it seems that my characters are just extensions of me and my supporting character personality.

So the question is, how does one get main character energy? Can you find it in a book? (After a webinar today, I am thinking that Jenny Wood’s Wild Courage may be prescriptive.) Or does it come from living life with main character energy and I am not sure my yoga instructor is ready for me to show up with that kind of aura.
