Welcome to my latest exercise in an attempt to reach my goal of being a prolific writer in 2022. So, in addition to writing 1 short story each week (Because Ray Bradbury said you can’t write 52 bad ones – challenge accepted!) I will be attempting to post an original poem each day in April. This is not going to be easy – I’ve not really written poetry since college. So, these will be thrown together each day and not very edited.
I can hear you now – sucky stories and bad poetry? Sign me up.

The Usual Suspects
A night out
or a movie
Who’s going?
We’ll round up the usual suspects
The ones who are there
for broken hears and torn dreams
and new boyfriends, new jobs, new kittens
(Especially new kittens)
But the usual suspects get busy
as new boyfriends become marriages, families
Saturday morning soccer, Sunday School
PTA meetings
Board meetings
Conference travel
Cat shows
until the Usual Suspects
are no longer usual
And there is a new ususal.
You succinctly explained how usual suspects become the new usual and life changes.
Good one

Oh dear, so very true. Every weekend passes by with no clue about what exactly happened . Routines go on and on and on
