Heavy darkness still outside
My window a large black hole
framed with painted white wood
a picture of night
or doom

Heavy darkness still outside
the instructions say
I should go outside and gather as many images as I can
but the only thing that can be seen
is the black
is the dark
is the shadow that covers all

Heavy darkness still outside
the weight has smothered hope
it seems
Or does hope rally
with the pale gray in the east?
