There was a time
A long time ago
when everything was new
and fresh
but time happened.

They say that time makes all things new
tell that to the avocado on my counter
three days past its prime
there is no going back

But wouldn’t it be great
to have a Produce Time Machine
to keep avocados and peaches stored
at their perfect eating ripeness for more than ten minutes?
and kept the lettuce crispy?
and kept the potatoes from growing
but still in potato form?

I guess it’s just
time moves too fast
for me
and my fruit.
