a Civic Holy Day, really
when my country celebrates independence–
no, wait
we are celebrating the declaration
That our rich white men won’t pay taxes
to another rich white man
any longer.

Today, here
is a Civic Holy Day
Because Christian Nation and all
but really
More a Judas-ian nation
we live more like Judas than Christ
and spend so much energy
like Judas
trying to get Jesus
to support our political agenda
and yet he won’t
but we ignore that

Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s
Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none,
and whoever has food is to do likewise.

Jesus gave more advice about giving parties
And who to invite
then he did about the politics of
healthcare
marriage
And don’t get him started about rich people.

Our Judas-ian nation celebrates today
using Christ
for “Freedom”
to protect ourselves
to keep others down
and control the uncontrollable.
And most of all
the Freedom of rich people
to not pay taxes
to not be required to contribute to the common good
like we commoners.

May I defect now?
