Goodbye seems to imply
good is inherent
good comes first
That the leaving is most important
and therefore good.
Au revoir, the French have it right
Until we see again
because we will see each other again
it’s a small world, after all, says Disney.
who also says
M-I-C – See you real soon!
The Spanish knock leaving
out of the ballpark
Adios
“I commend you to God”
– hopefully not the sentiment of
kill them all and let God sort them out
right?
Farewell seems more honest, true
A wish, a hope
that things go well for you
without me
that things may be even better for you
without me
Know that the leaving is not good
for me.
the mourning will not be pleasant
for me
But the going is good and best
and I cannot do one
without the other.
Strange but I’ve never thought about the “good” in goodbye. Kind of seems like a misnomer. Idk. Being Italian, I like to say ciao. It’s either hello or goodbye.

Such a beautiful poem to commemorate what I’m sure is a tough day for you as you move on to a new beginning.
