Time, it seems, is a mouse
much like the one who has
made his home our office.
He can’t be seen
just the results of his passing through
little nibbles missing
here and there
little pellet gifts
and shreds of paper.

We see his proof
not his presence
and I think we prefer it that way.
knowing of his existence
but not actually experiencing him
in reality
he is

a waste of perfectly good chocolate.
