There is still life
and then there is slow life
Slow life is to be willing —
No, excited!–

to watch the grass grow
to watch the leaves turn color
to watch the sun set
or rise, you do you
to watch paint dry while
hoping it doesn’t get that dark ring that
happens when the pigment separates from the water
that is a thing
watching something slow

and wanting it to happen a different way
but it keeps on
the way it is
the grass will still grow
the paint will dry
and any effort to make it dry differently
changes it
and shows once again
my overcontrolling ego
is trying to take over.
