when I was young
staying up all night and welcoming the new
day’s sunrise
was
frequently the life I lived
but Now
the only way I want to see the sunrise
is from my window as I work at my desk with strong coffee after a decent night’s sleep

most certainly not from a plane window where I
tried all night in vain to sleep
nor from the
hard seats in the airport gate area
or from anywhere that is not

home
or some camping spot at the lake.
I am too old for this Sh*t.
