Will the sun forget to rise this morning?
I look to the east, searching for the hope of dawn
but it is dark, too dark, for this time of morning.
Not even a glimpse of the day to come
Regulus is trying
bless its starry heart
but it is no Sol.
and cannot light our way today
Mercury too, cannot be the warmth needed this morning
although it shines and I can see it
it is proof Sol is there –

it’s just not here where I need it
this morning
and I am tired of the dark
and the man-made light
and am so ready to have a new day
and put this old night to bed.
