Everything , it seems, is a practice
Natalie tells me writing is a practice
my music teacher tells me practice doesn’t make perfect,
practice makes habit
and my art teacher tells me
the only way to get better
is to practice.

The old adage says I should practice what I preach
the OED tells me “the actual application or use of an idea, belief, or method, as opposed to theories relating to it.”

or “the customary, habitual, or expected procedure or way of doing of something.”

The verb version?

“perform (an activity) or exercise (a skill) repeatedly or regularly in order to improve or maintain one’s proficiency” or “carry out or perform (a particular activity, method, or custom) habitually or regularly.”

All this to say
with all this practice
when is the real thing?
