You know, you should have been nicer to me
You shouldn’t have teased me quite so much when
I retreated to the corner of the party
more interested in a book than
your gossip about the people
Not at the party.
You know, you should have been nicer to me.
You shouldn’t have joked about how quiet I was
you are now a character in my novel
and if you don’t get your act together
your death will be quite miserable
I will probably enjoy it more.
This is genius. Love it!
I didn’t see the ending of the poem coming and then “Wham.”
I just finished reading Heating and Cooling and the author talks about how her husband (who writes fiction) always includes a character named Colin (the name of her first boyfriend) that meets an untimely demise. This reminds me of that in the best possible way.
