I may need a puppy
like I need another hole in my head
as my father would say.
but puppies, like babies
are symbols of hope,
a sign to the world that you think life will go on
another ten to seventeen years
depending on the size of the dog to come.

I may need a puppy
maybe not to shout about hope
but to have an example of
discovery.
everything is new
(and tasty)
to a puppy.
A puppy cannot help but be curious.
and since my curiosity has been a bit flat lately
maybe a puppy will
Inspire me a bit.
Because unlike cats
curiosity doesn’t kill puppies.
